PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Senior Audio Engineer is a highly skilled and integral member of our broadcasting team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of audio quality in live and recorded productions. This role demands an experienced professional with exceptional expertise in audio engineering, signal processing, and a deep understanding of audio technologies.

 

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered the essential functions of the job).

 

  • Audio Quality Management: Take the lead in maintaining superior audio quality in live and recorded broadcasts, overseeing the setup and operation of audio equipment, microphones, mixers, and signal processors.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to audio equipment, audio signal routing, and interference to ensure uninterrupted audio quality during broadcasts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, to ensure seamless integration of audio elements into broadcasts.
  • Quality Control: Maintain broadcast standards for audio quality, ensuring that audio levels, clarity, and consistency meet or exceed industry benchmarks.
  • Technical Expertise: Stay up-to-date with the latest audio technologies and trends, contributing to the integration of new equipment and solutions into our broadcasts.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior audio technicians who are trained by you or other team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain audio equipment, including microphones, soundboards, mixers, and related hardware, to guarantee consistent and high-quality audio output.

 

OTHER DUTIES:

  • The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

 

QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  •        Bachelor’s degree in Video/Film Production or related field. Professional experience in lieu of education will be considered.
  •        10+ years extensive experience in audio engineering, including live and recorded broadcasts.
  •        Proficiency in audio signal processing, sound mixing, and equipment operation.
  •        Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities related to audio systems.
  •        Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
  •        A deep understanding of audio technologies and industry standards.
  •        A commitment to maintaining high audio quality and professionalism.
  •        Ability to adapt to changing requirements and high-pressure situations.
  •        Candidate must have a commitment to excellence and to ongoing education in broadcast and to the mastery of their craft.
  •        Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, including overnights, holidays and weekends.
