Lead Technical Artist

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Lead Technical Artist is responsible for all the technical setups for the creative department and implementing MBN’s dynamic data driven graphics on various systems, web application, and other graphics and digital systems and software/hardware. Moreover, the Lead Technical Artist oversees developing and presenting new technologies, methods, workflows, and techniques to elevate content creation and presentation.

  

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:  (Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job)

  • Implement all the live and Real-Time Graphics scenes into editable templates that could be filled and edited by the journalists.
  • Construct main VIZ-Concepts Tree for Real-Time graphics.
  • Develop Viz-Transition Logic database Scenes-Tree for Real-Time graphics.
  • Develop control template/s for any type of VIZRT scenes based on Transition Logic.
  • Integrate live and updatable data into on-air graphics, touchscreens, and virtual sets.
  • Create and implement control concepts for the VIZ Shows, in Trio/Director/VCP Studios and OB Vans.
  • Build data driven visual scenes such as graphs, pie charts, bar charts, election maps, competition data, sports, social media analytics, and integrating VizRT and Unreal scenes with any type of live data feed such as Reuters feeds, xml, axles , RSS feeds, text , Jason .etc.
  • Acquire and filter data to VIZ and ZD engines “On Air Graphics /Virtual /Augmented Reality”.
  • ·Translate data to visual interactive graphics solutions (Visual Actions /Visual Reactions).
  • Supervise and integrate touchscreens thorough building an interactive graphics stages, wedges, and interfaces.   
  • Develop and maintain all the creative technical setups to provide highest creative results and maximum efficiencies.
  • Oversee creative systems compatibilities and insure functional operations of the creative technologies.
  • Create custom plugins for wireless controllers via VCP/UDP protocols.   
  • Create database architectures that can store data for markets, weather, election results, social media, etc.
  •  Deal with special events which needs to be translated to visual content, ‘Crises, Elections, Specials, etc…’ and design, animate, and help with the design process in VizRT, Unreal, and Adobe (On-Air, VR, AR).
  • Optimize graphics scenes to meet the best render quality, fastest performance, and functionality.
  • Build costume codes, Scripting, computer programs, and solutions to meet the requirements of MBN workflows and graphics.
  • Develop custom applications using programming languages specially C#, C++, Java, NodeJS, VbScript.
  • Follow up and support the creative team with any creative technical requirement such as creating accounts, managing subscriptions, conduct creative technical tests, and setting up creative technical setups.
  • Create workflow and documentations and provide training when needed.
  • Work with various departments to insure the efficient, correct use and functionality of MBNs creative systems.
  • Present innovative technologies and ideas to be utilized in media productions and news presentation.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer programming or BA degree and equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of broadcast news live graphics experience.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in the below:

 

    1. Programming Languages (C#, PHP, ASP.NET, VBScript, C++, C, Visual Basic, Java, CSS).
    2. Programming Libraries (MVC, Log4Net, Quartz,  Google API, Amazon Web Services) .
    3. IDE (VisualStudio.Net)
    4. Data bases (MSSQL, MySQL, Access, Oracle),
    5. Software Engineering (Object Oriented Design Patterns, Agile, Git)
    6. Broadcast Workflows (Editorial, Editing, Animation, Transmission, Traffic, MOS, VIZ NLE).
    7. Pro Apps such as: Microsoft Project, iNews, Vizrt, Zero Density, Unreal, and Google Earth.
  • Complex hands-on experience with Vizrt and Unreal operations and capabilities.
  • Ability to use Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator), and 3D software (3d Max, Cinema 4D, or Maya).
  • Passion for problem-solving, particularly as it pertains to debugging technical issues .
  • Understanding of different data representations like JSON and XML.
  • Virtual set, AR, VR graphics development and integration.  
  • Mixed reality graphic application development.  
  • Interactive graphics development with multi-touch and gesture support.  
  • Expertise on Vizrt tools including VizArtist, Template Wizard, Director, Viz World, MOS Protocol, Ticker System, VIZ Multiplay  
  • Deep understanding of integration between third party applications and broadcast graphics systems.
  • Energetic, passionate, with a ‘can-do’ positive attitude.
  • Demonstrate understanding of written Arabic language and characters.
