Investigative Video Podcast Producer

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Podcast Producer to develop and produce a new slate of digital video programming for MBN’s Investigative Unit on the podcast platforms at our headquarters in Springfield, VA.

The Investigative Video Podcast Producer is responsible for the entire Podcast production. He is in charge of all production aspects from planning and script writing to the final production and editing. Podcast Producer is also responsible for program budgets and organizational matters as well as with aesthetic decisions. This position supervises and works with a team.

The Podcast Producer must be self-sufficient, regularly meet deadlines, and swiftly tape, cut, script, and edit quality video content.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and responsibilities noted below are considered the essential functions of the job.

 

·        Lead and manage Podcast team effectively and fairly, setting the expectations, monitoring progress and giving regular feedback on the output.

·        Creates all production elements of a show including editorial, segments, script development, writing, revising, and approving finished scripts, bookings, video, editing and graphics.

·        Supervise the progress of the content from preproduction to postproduction.

·        Pitch, research and plan topics, content, guest segments and/or packages.

·        Generate and support engagement of online show content in collaboration with Digital team.

·        Consistently provide sound editorial judgment and model professional accountability and integrity along with strong visual presentation.

·        Ensure all platform content complies fully with MBN’s journalistic code, social media policies, and style guidelines.

·        Collaborates closely with technical staff to ensure effective content presentation.

·        Demonstrating initiative and creative thinking to develop new content and alternative approaches to improve mission delivery.

·        Supervise the progress of the content from production to postproduction.

·        Manage all production logistics.

 

OTHER DUTIES:

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

·        Bachelor’s degree preferably in Journalism.

·        A minimum of 7-10 years of Podcast/Online content experience.

·        Excellent verbal and written English and Arabic communication skills.

·        Excellent editing skills and graphics knowledge.

·        Ability to generate and pitch program content and story ideas to staff at all levels in the organization.

·        Demonstrates leadership skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

·        Demonstrates understanding of editorial principles, technical matters, TV and digital product marketing and ‘what works on TV and what works with digital.

·        Demonstrates understanding of editorial commissioning, rights acquisitions and clearances.

·        Demonstrates organizational skills and the ability to oversee projects from conception to delivery.

·        Ability to create, elaborate and execute formats.

·         Record VO for reports in classical Arabic is a plus.

·        Able to shoot and edit taster tapes (pilots and sizzles).

·        Ability to support a 24/7 broadcast environment .
