Show Host, Programming 

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Show Host for our Programing Department in Iraq.  MBN is a non-profit grantee of the federal government that directly communicates with the people of the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio, and digital media.  MBN's mission is to provide objective, accurate, and relevant news and information to the people of the Middle East about the region, the world, and the United States in support of U.S. public diplomacy.

The Host is responsible for hosting a weekly talk and interview program on Alhurra Iraq that will showcase the voices of the Iraqi people discussing and debating topics of importance to their lives.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Host include, but are not limited to:

• Hosting a talk-driven weekly program designed to engage and connect with the Iraqi audience.
• Broadcasting on the air in a manner that is in accordance with the highest professional standards.
• Displaying a high sense of professional judgment and select topic material that is of interest and relevant to the audience.
• Selecting program content based on factors such as current events, audience tastes and requests/feedback from the audience.
• Engaging and connecting with the Iraq audiences utilizing various social media platforms and bring these voices to the air.
• Participating in daily pre-production meetings which lay out direction and focus of that day’s program
• Suggesting relevant guests for appearance on-air.
• Conducting interviews, either in person, via phone or other technology (i.e. Skype, Google Hangout, etc) with guests about topics that are in their areas of expertise.
• Operating studio equipment, including console, microphone, broadcast automation system and telephone hybrid or any other equipment deemed necessary to conduct program
• Conceptualizing, developing and producing unique, compelling program segments
• Be topical, relatable, upbeat and engaging.

Candidates are required to have:

• 2+ years of professional experience of hosting television interactive program and/or talk program.
• Command of the written and spoken Arabic language a must
• Outstanding communication skills are a must
• Experience in effectively utilizing social media preferred
• Knowledgeable about a wide variety of news topics and social issues; be up to-date with current events and trends
• Strong research skills are preferred
• Strong interview skills are required
• Knowledge of proper use of studio equipment is preferred
• Must speak clearly and use proper grammar
