 Director of Audio Content

 

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Director of Audio Content to lead its audio content division, in Digital Department whose job is to motivate and direct reporters, producers, and sound designers to create exceptional, compelling, in-depth audio programming as well as news roundups designed for digital consumption that best exemplifies MBN’s journalism and public service.

The Director of Audio Content will supervise several podcasts, other audio content, and distribution channels, and work closely with people across MBN and externally to ensure the work creates maximum impact, and generates engagement among target audiences across radio, podcasts, and digital channels. The Director of Audio Contenthas should have a solid background in journalism, and expertise managing innovative, long-form audio storytelling.

The ideal candidate is an outstanding leader and talent developer for  all types of roles, including producer, editor, reporter, and presenter and will also have a robust editorial vision coupled with sound editorial judgement, as well as the ability to think strategically about how editorial products and audio content can best serve MBN’s audiences.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES Duties and responsibilities noted below are considered to be the essential functions of the job

  • Lead the planning, execution and development of high-quality, impactful, and engaging audio content aligned with leadership’s strategic vision and MBN’s mission.
  • Lead development and production of news and current affairs programming that fully reflects an understanding of regional issues, as well as important global events and human-interest topics. 
  • Provide leadership on developing existing products and creating new products to serve and grow audiences on a variety of platforms.
  • Ensures full compliance with MBN’s Journalistic Code of Ethics.
  • Provide editorial leadership for all audio content produced.
  • Manage human, financial, and technical resources efficiently and effectively in compliance with MBN’s policies and priorities.
  • Ensure resource optimization by coordinating and collaborating with senior colleagues across the organization
  • Create and implement strategies including setting targets and tracking progress on a regular basis.
  • Direct development of editorial agendas for all audio projects.
  • Supervise editorial, production and technical quality of all content and products.
  • Organize and lead regular reviews of all audio content .
  • Oversee and manage budgets for the division.
  • Lead the development and implementation of social media plans across the division to ensure effectiveness and ongoing improvement.

Candidates are required to have:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of journalism experience, including management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with audio programming and production technology.
  • Strong organization & communications skills in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in classic standard Arabic and English.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in creating and supervising successful production flow and systems.
  • Expertise in news coverage, exercising sound, impartial news judgment.
