Producer/Presenter, Sawa Digital

 

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Producer/Presenter, Sawa for audio content in Digital Department to generate story ideas, plans, conducts research, draft original broadcast, or podcast quality scripts, and presents episodic content or news roundups in whole or in part.

 

The Producer/Presenter is responsible for Sawa various types of multi-genre audio content distributed via the internet and other mobile and social media platforms. They're involved in the entire process, from generating ideas to managing the audience response after a show. 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES Duties and responsibilities noted below are considered to be the essential functions of the job

  • Create, plan, and organize themes, topics, features, and guests for assigned audio content.
  • Develop content, write material for scripts, and edit stories.
  • Source potential contributors and interviewees.
  • Create pre-produced audio clips to enrich final audio output.
  • Prepare pre-production briefings for colleagues, reporters, creative, technical, and marketing staff.
  • Work quickly under pressure to produce news reports of the highest professional quality to meet pre-set deadlines.
  • Write scripts with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Plan and produce material for future audio content in line with an editorial calendar and a content plan. 
  • Verify that copyrights are cleared and understand media law. Obtain permissions or licenses before recording on locations, and before using music, sound effects and audio archive material
  • Edit audio content on Adobe Audition and build rough cuts of content prior to sound design.

Candidates are required to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism or broadcast journalism (is preferred).
  • 3-5 years audio production experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written Modern Standard Arabic and English communication skills.
  • Strong conversational skills.
  • Excellent audio writing skills.
  • Robust audio presentation and audio communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the media scene.
  • Expertise in producing feature stories that include ambient or natural sound, music, and archive tape.
  • Ability to work quickly under pressure and under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and trends.
  • Knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
  • Technical ability to operate audio recording and audio broadcasting equipment.
  • Digital production experience is a plus.
