The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Writer, Iraq News to develop and write news stories in classical Arabic with clarity, accuracy and balance at our headquarters in Springfield, VA.
The Writer is responsible for script writing for news broadcasts, translating material from English into Arabic, working closely with MBN’s editorial personnel to support newscasts and presenting commentary on screen.
The Writer monitors English and Arabic news feed and events, performs and completes writing assignments (including re-writes) for summaries, news programs, news packages, live events and features. The incumbent works closely with anchors, reporters and producers to support daily newscast, and conducts research for story assignment and ensures news stories comply with MBN standards and codes.
Candidates are required to have:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
- A minimum of 3 years Professional Writing Experience (international news preferred)
- Ability to present on screen live and recorded commentary.
- Television production experience
- Verbal and written communication skills in Classic Arabic and English
- Experience with digital news broadcasting
- Strong computer and database skills
- Ability to exercise self-discipline and time-management skills
