Writer, Pan Arab News
Description
The Writer translates material from English into Arabic and works closely with MBN’s editorial personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and write news stories in classical Arabic with clarity, accuracy and balance.
- Monitors English and Arabic news feed and events.
- Performs under deadline pressure.
- Completes writing assignments (including re-writes) for summaries, news programs, news packages, live events and features following generally accepted news writing style and format.
- Re-writes/translates wire copy, stories for the newscast, teases and packages.
- Conducts research for story assignment and ensuring that news stories are in compliance with MBN standards and codes.
- Works closely with anchors, reporters and producers to support daily newscast.
- Performs other related tasks assigned by the Producer and Senior Producer for updating news tickers, graphics and animation inserts and clipping videos and interview clips.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Journalism or Broadcast Journalism is preferred.
- 3 years of professional writing experience (experience writing international news preferred).
- Verbal and written communication skills in Classic Arabic and English.
- Demonstrated experience with digital news broadcasting.
- knowledge of using graphic, editorial system (ENPS, Inews, VisArt and basic video editing)
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management.
- Strong computer and database skills.
- Ability to exercise self-discipline and time-management skills.
