Assignment Planner

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a  journalist to lead  the coverage,  logistical, and resource planning of special events  for Alhurra News at our Headquarters office in Springfield, VA. 

The Assignment Planner monitors operational needs for Special Projects and makes the information available to all relevant personnel, by insuring the proper logistical, coverage planning support, and assistance to the Chief Global Assignment and Planning Editor. The incumbent keeps track of on-air talent assignments, and adheres to MBN journalistic code of ethics.

As MBN's chief point of contact in the planning stages of events, the incumbent maintains communication with press offices and media relations officials connected with each special project, and insures that credentials, travel, and technical arrangements have been addressed. The Assignment Planner gathers and maintains contact information needed for specific events, and maintains financial records for those events.

Candidates are required to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or related field.
• A minimum of 2 years of event planning experience.
• Ability to communicate verbally and written in English and classic Arabic.
• Demonstrated an ability to prioritize and make decisions consistent with the mission of the organization.
• Keen sense of logistics and ability to work well with others including producers, reporters, photographers, other personnel and the public
• Good creative and editorial judgment. Mastery of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
• Demonstrated strong people management skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
