ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide outstanding customer service to residents, companies and attorneys over the phone and in person. Act as Liaison between the Finance Department and other City Departments. 
  • Maintain the Treasurers Ledger on a Monthly Basis. Use Quickbooks to record all transactions, payroll warrants, and vendor warrants. Work with City Auditing Department to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update the listing of the City’s Unclaimed Funds. Correspond with the State Department of Revenue when necessary.
  • Document all Finance Department processes. Create and maintain instructions in an organized library.
  • Respond to all emails in the Treasurer's Inbox in a timely and professional manner. Maintain the Finance Department’s website to communicate with City Residents.
  • Serve as a backup and remain trained on Sewer Abatements and Tax Title.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Finance Director.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

BS in Business, Finance or equivalent combination of training, education and experience required. Three to five years' work experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a municipal organization. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle (PeopleSoft) Financials and/or MUNIS highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, required. Experience in a fast-paced demanding environment required. Demonstrated documentation and troubleshooting skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Answer telephone and maintain multiple files. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Standard office environment. Fluorescent lighting, and window unit air conditioning. Moderate noise level, which can elevate with phone calls and walk-in members of the public.
