The Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool, located in Austin, is a public entity risk pool providing workers’ compensation, liability, and property coverages to more than 2,800 Texas local government entities. We are seeking a Claims Processor to perform specialized duties in support of the processing of member liability and property claims. 

Job Duties:

  • Reviews and processes assigned auto claims.

  • Sets up exposures and reserves.

  • Confirms salvage is ready for pick up, equipment and decals are removed, follows up with receipt of titles, and tracks salvage recoveries
  • Contact claimants to advise of claims procedures.

  • Processes payments based on provided estimates.

  • Answers the telephone and provides information and assistance.

  • Prepares total loss evaluations using online resources.

  • Coordinates the provision of rental vehicles to claimants and Members.

  • Reviews and processes assigned General Liability Claims (for the potholes & glass).

  • Reviews and processes third-party subrogation demands for payment. 
  • Performs duties as assigned.

Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of liability and property claims processing principles.

  • Knowledge of insurance principles.

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of auto damage appraisal principles.

  • Knowledge of Claims Center and Microsoft suite, i.e. Word and Excel

  • Skill in decision-making and problem-solving.

  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

  • Skill in oral and written communication

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and level of competency are commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
