Major Duties:
- Performs annual reviews with membership which include an assessment of exposures and assist member with risk retention policy by determining appropriate limits and deductibles based on risk appetite.
- Performs benchmark analysis and helps membership determine cost of risk based on peer group.
- Reviews various exposures and makes recommendations.
- Acts as primary Pool liaison to members and potential members within a defined geographic territory.
- Assists members and potential members with coverage assessment on liability lines, professional lines, auto, property, workers compensation, and cyber.
- Recommends appropriate coverage to members and potential members.
- Performs in-depth analysis of casualty and property claims. Assist membership with development of risk management treatment program.
- Assists members with re-rate exposure summaries; explains coverage.
- Interprets private insurance policies to ensure that the Pool is providing viable coverage.
- Assists with special city events; coordinates the insurance documentation of large events; assists in determining the need for additional coverage.
- Works with members and potential members in the completion of internal forms.
- Reviews requests for proposals and ensures Pool's compliance with required specifications.
- Troubleshoots members issues and communicates membership need to management.
- Ensures the CRM system is updated thoroughly and precisely to record face-to-face meetings, phone conversations, emails and virtual meetings for effective client activity tracking.
- Maintains a variety of files and records.
- Prepares a variety of regular and special reports.
- Markets Pool services to potential members; attends industry trade shows; makes public presentations.
- Performs related duties.
- Attends various conferences throughout the year.
- Participates in team that is responsible for developing new products and services.
- This position requires a minimum of 70% of travel within Texas, with most work conducted while in the vehicle.
- Ability to plan and execute work schedule independently with minimal direct supervision.
Knowledge and Experience
- Knowledge of the structure, form, and objectives of governmental organizations.
- Knowledge of local government insurance principles.
- Knowledge of risk analysis principles.
- Knowledge of state workers' compensation laws.
- Knowledge of marketing and sales principles and practices.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of Excel and ability to process and analyze data.
- Proficiency in technology and adaptability to new software.
- Skill in the interpretation of contracts, policies, statutes, etc.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Skill in working with a diverse constituency of stakeholders.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to plan and execute work schedule independently with minimal direct supervision.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as accounting, finance, insurance, risk management, or business preferred.
- Required certifications are, the Associate in Risk Management(ARM). Candidate will need to obtain the ARM certification within 18 months of date of hire, unless the candidate currently possesses the CPCU certification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance, government, or related field.
- Qualified candidates who are bilingual in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 30 days for the type of vehicle or equipment being operated.
