This Opportunity

Performs mechanical engineering design, procurement and construction activities  as needed  to repair/replace existing facilities or to design the construction of new facilities. Provide technical support, reply to RFIs, update design drawings for new construction, renovations, and improvements to facilities.  Completes as-built drawings and produce CAD As-builts from markup drawings.
Work with other design team members, O&M and the design manager to define project scope, complete concept and construction level designs. Complete procurement activities, quotations, and prepare bill of materials.  Complete statement of works for subcontractors and request quotations from vendors for the selected materials and equipment. 
Provide cost estimate support to the estimator as needed to prepare Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and detailed estimates.

Your Impact

  • Performs mechanical design works for facilities and infrastructure systems, including:  heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); chilled water closed loop systems, knowledge of water/wastewater pump stations, piping, hydraulics and water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Interprets and adapts traditional methods and approaches in developing design calculations, sizing equipment, materials selection, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards. Prepares conceptual studies and sketches that indicate design features, material, equipment, and specifications.
  • Develops cost estimates working with the cost estimator and procurement team to receive quotations. 
  • Reviews and analyzes preliminary and final designs, plans, and specifications for technical efficiency and adequacy. Prepares necessary correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets, and status reports and prepares or oversees the preparation of final construction drawings. 
  • Coordinates all design phases with appropriate managers and staff. Maintains current engineering data for assigned projects. May act as a project liaison with Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required to gather information, objectives and action items, review documents as requested by the government Contracting Officer's Representative ( COR). 
  • Prepares  statements of work (SOW) for subcontracts and material procurement. 
  • Coordinates projects with engineers in other disciplines. Applies knowledge of other disciplines to determine coordination required to ensure all design considerations have been addressed. 
  • Incorporates federal,  Host Nation, and local regulatory requirements into program design, implementation, and evaluation. 
  • Uses computer software such as Microsoft Office, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs (e.g., AutoCAD, and project tracking programs (e.g. Microsoft Project) and other engineering design calculation software packages to solve engineering problems with solutions presented to the COR in order to facilitate work. 
  • Complies with health, safety and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Ensures deferral and local codes concerning health, safety, and environment are strictly adhered to in the programming, design, and construction of real property facilities. 
  • Understands and abides by the standards set forth for ethical behavior and integrity as detailed in the Code of Business Conduct. 
  • Performs all other duties prescribed by management and as indicated in the Performance Work Statement.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Required Education: Bachelor's Degree, accredited engineering technology degree or documents 72 months of qualifying work experience.
  • Capable of providing mechanical design services including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); chilled water closed loop systems, knowledge of water/wastewater pump stations, piping, hydraulics and water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to effectively and tactfully communicate with many levels of personnel. May be working in a multicultural environment where knowledge of local customs and laws would be required.
  • Must have strong computer skills to include the capability to perform basic functions (i.e. manipulate drawings, equipment general arrangements, piping, pumps, etc.) in AutoCAD 2022 or equivalent and be able to supervise a CAD operator to complete the required work. 
  • Must be detail oriented with a strong sense of motivation and drive to constantly perform at a high level of expertise. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Possess or be able to obtain the following; a valid US driver's license and a valid US passport.
