This Opportunity

Our Climate Finance Advisors (CFA) team is seeking a Senior Fall 2022 Climate Finance Intern to work out of our Arlington, VA and/or New York, NY offices. CFA, member of WSP, works with clients to accelerate sustainable, climate-aligned investment to benefit society, the economy and the environment. We specialize in helping our clients develop climate finance strategies, appraise and structure climate-aligned investments, channel public and private capital to sustainable investment, and integrate climate considerations into investment decisions, financial products and services, and policies.

Your Impact

  • Research on the topic of climate finance, sustainable development, and investment to support CFA team members and client engagements.
  • Support financial modeling and analytical support for project financing, climate risk, resilience, and associated financial structures.
  • Support the preparation of funding proposals and Request for Proposals, case studies, reports, presentations, articles, and blogs, including research and drafting.
  • Support client projects with the broader Sustainability, Energy, Climate Change (SECC) team, which includes but is not limited to sustainability reporting and disclosure; greenhouse gas inventory management; decarbonization and net zero.
  • General administrative support as required to help the team manage clients, partner relationships, and CFA operations.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Finance, Economics, International Affairs, Environmental Management, or related, Masters or PhD program.
  • Demonstrated interest in international development, clean energy investment, climate change policy, insurance, risk management, and/or private sector financing, or related topics, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Demonstrated interest in at least one of the following: blended finance for climate, climate risk and disclosure, climate investment strategies, climate investment due diligence.
  • Advanced proficiency in reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in quantitative analysis, financial analysis, and financial modeling preferred. 
  • Prior internship experience.
