WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Project Manager - Environmental Consulting and Remediation for our Roseville, CA office. Be involved in projects with our Site Assessment and Remediation, Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
The team is looking for a background as a Geologist, Environmental Scientist, or Environmental Engineer looking for career growth in environmental consulting and remediation. From this location, our team of professionals provide services to clients in the solid waste, aggregates, mining, transportation, utilities, and manufacturing sectors.
This position provides an opportunity to join a fast-paced team that provides solutions on geological, civil, and environmental projects. The work entails a variety of office-related and field activities, with a need to carefully follow instructions, document activities, solve problems, and provide proactive communication.
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget for small to medium sized environmental projects.
- Direct junior staff to complete routine (groundwater/soil/vapor sampling) field activities.
- Preparation of project budgets based on time, expenses, and equipment need to complete
- Preparation of technical reports
- Willingness to mentor junior staff
- Collect, extract, identify, and compile environmental data from soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.
- Perform subsurface field geologic exploration tasks including drilling oversight, soil logging, and test pit explorations.
- Direct Installation of monitoring wells for groundwater sampling and water level readings.
- Interpretation of subsurface conditions and preparation of boring logs and well construction details.
- Perform oversight of remediation subcontractors.
- Provide peer review of staff deliverables.
- Perform data compilation, report writing, and other related duties to support project teams.
- Primarily office-based position, however local travel (up to 20% of the time) will be required at times.
- Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions, while using equipment (with an ability to lift and move approximately 40 pounds without assistance) and operating vehicles on behalf of the company.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of experience working in the environmental consulting industry.
- Knowledge of geological research techniques and protocols.
- Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
- Experience sampling soil and groundwater via drilling including direct-push, hollow-stem auger, and other similar drilling methods.
- Experience with evaluation of vapor intrusion and sampling soil gas per DTSC and EPA guidelines.
- Experience installing groundwater monitoring wells, remediation wells, and soil gas wells.
- Experience writing groundwater monitoring reports and well installation reports.
- Knowledge with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most cost-effective responses that will minimize waste, prevent pollution, and conserve resources.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment and tools, troubleshooting and reporting on malfunctions, and performing inventory control activities.
- Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for low to mid-level threat mitigation activities.
- Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
- Experience with field-based data collection applications.
