This Opportunity

WSP USA has an immediate opening for a Project Consultant to support the company’s growing Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change offering. 

The individual will support a client–facing team in the design, management, and reporting of organizational sustainability programs. Specific experience in product sustainability is preferred, particularly Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Product Environmental Footprinting (PEF), water footprinting and Whole Building LCA (WBLCA). The ideal candidate will also have the flexibility and capacity to work on a variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products. 

Preferred location of the position is Portland, Oregon. Other locations will be considered, including San Francisco and San Diego

Your Impact

Conducting LCAs from start to finish including:

  • Researching and collecting life cycle inventory data, performing quality assuranc e, developing new datasets to fill data gaps
  • Performing modeling in software platforms such as GaBi 
  • Creating reports (screening-level and ISO-conformant) and presentations based on the results of LCAs
  • Producing EPDs and LCA background reports in accordance with relevant Product Category Rules (PCRs)
  • Identifying and evaluating opportunities to reduce environmental impacts in the life cycle of a product or service
  • Developing and reporting entity-wide inventories for energy, GHG, water, waste, and other resources
  • Managing multiple projects and project teams
  • Supporting business development activities with existing and prospective clients in the private and public sectors

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Ability to develop and present analyses using programs including Microsoft Excel, Access, GaBi, and Power BI
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and use of programs including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with product and service areas such as fossil and bio-based fuels and chemicals, food and beverage, apparel, electronics and technology, construction, and/or transportation sectors
  • Familiarity with ISO standards relevant to LCA such as 14040, 14044, 14025, 14046, 14064, 14067, water scarcity and footprinting methodologies such as AWARE, and WBLCA guidance and documentation such as that in LEED v4.1
  • Familiarity with the product design process, manufacturing, supply chain management, circular economy principles and methods of reducing waste
  • Experience using LCA software such as GaBi, SimaPro, OpenLCA or other LCA software
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms
