WSP is seeking a mid-level Acoustical Engineer, with approximately 7-10 years experience, to support our national project load work. The applicant would be assigned to our Boston office.
The applicant would need to have a strong background in environmental acoustics, including community noise, sustainable energy noise, and experience with related noise regulations. A formal undergraduate degree from an accredited university in a related field of acoustics is required. A master’s degree in acoustics is strongly desired. Membership in professional societies such as INCE and ASA are highly desired, as are evidence of any previously authored publications in said professional societies.
The applicant would need to have previous experience, and have taken associated training courses, in some common 3D acoustical models such as Cadna-A and the FHWA’s Traffic Noise model. Other acoustical models which the applicant should be familiar with include RCNM for construction noise, AIM for interior HVAC noise, and use of Python for data reduction and analysis.
Prior experience in, and a willingness to continue performing field studies is also required. These studies would involve acoustical measurements during the daytime and nighttime, and the need for travel anywhere in the United States. The applicant must be able to legally drive in the United States.
