This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Junior Structural Engineer for our Chicago, IL, Indianapolis, IN, Detroit, MI, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, OH offices. Be involved in projects with our Midwest Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

This individual will work on medium to large sized projects with multi-discipline collaboration, and serve as a key technical resource in the local office. Responsibility roles include Project Engineering, developing plans and specifications for bridges, walls and related transportation structures. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed structural engineering coursework at the university level, have the desire, people skills and motivation to learn and grow within the organization by working on challenging projects.

Your Impact

  • Conceptual through final analysis and design of new and existing structures.  Structures types include steel and concrete bridges of various configurations from simple short spans to long span or complex structures.
  • Evaluation of bridges and transportation structures (vehicular, rail and transit facilities) and the identification and prioritization of repairs
  • Preparation of drawings, technical specifications, construction bid documents, construction cost estimates and construction schedules for new and rehabilitation bridge projects. 
  • Work with the Project Manager on spreadsheets and MathCAD for project design and organization.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or May 2022 Graduate in an accredited Civil or Structural Engineering Program.
  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately
