This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager for our Charlotte, NC office. WSP works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. Project experience should include service utility coordination, power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm, emergency power systems, and coordination with city and state permitting agencies.  Be involved in projects with our Property and Buildings Engineering Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector.  Tasks include the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects).  

Your Impact

  • Lead project electrical engineer capable of directing the project team.
  • Leads mentoring/knowledge sharing with junior staff.
  • Project management activities including writing proposals, establishing budgets, reviewing billing, and managing client interactions.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design issues.
  • Coordinates the activities of technical staff from project award through project completion.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity for the built environment.
  • Experience in leading and managing projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices. 
  • Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering, building, energy, and electrical codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LEED AP certification, PE License, Previous Healthcare or Laboratory design experience  #LI-PJ1
