This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Community/Regional/Urban Planner for our Atlanta Buford Highway office.  The following locations will also be considered: Kennesaw, GA.  Be involved in projects with our 6143 Asset Management, Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact

WSP is currently seeking a fulltime Community/Urban/Regional Planner to join our Environment & Infrastructure Division in Atlanta, GA. WSP is a multi-disciplined, integrated, international consulting firm operating across all sectors in the U.S. The successful candidate will join a team of planners, landscape architects, engineers and GIS specialists who provide support for planning and design projects for clients in the municipal, federal, and institutional sectors. 
 

  • Candidate should have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or GIS, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, 3D sketching (SketchUp, etc.), and desktop publishing. Writing and graphic/map samples should be submitted with a resume.
  • The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with planning, design, and engineering professionals in a team structure and collaborate based on scope requirements. As part of the WSP Asset Management Group, having flexibility and resilience will prove to be a benefit for the candidate in this role while working in a project driven environment.
  • Job requirements will include analysis of clients’ planning needs, preparation of draft and final plan documents and drawings, site visits for data collection and meetings, potential temporary posting at client-owned sites to provide planning support services, and other associated responsibilities for project coordination, recording and documentation

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or Architecture.
  • 1-3 years of urban planning experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate efforts with members of project teams.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to facilitate meetings with clients and stakeholders. 
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (including SharePoint), Adobe Suite, SketchUp, GIS, and AutoCAD.
  • Commitment to learn new skills and join other teams for exposure to unique projects based on company/ group needs, as different projects are awarded, and project scopes change.
  • Ability to travel for field work up to 30% of time.
  • Applicants are required to perform minimal background checks or investigations to include, but not limited to, those required to support Common Access Card (CAC) and introduction/entry/visitor request letters. National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) will be conducted to support the issuance of a CAC. A favorable determination from a NACI investigation and a complete FBI fingerprint check is sufficient for the procurement of a CAC card.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Given the nature of onsite U.S. Department of Defense work, a U.S. citizen is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  A graduate degree in a related field is a plus.
