S3, Inc. is a woman owned small business founded in 1991, headquartered in Huntsville, AL, that provides technical, programmatic, and logistics services to US Department of Defense, other US Government Agencies, and Partner Nation militaries, co-located with Government requirements.  S3 has a wholly owned subsidiary, KBFS, that provides aviation pilot training, heavy lift, aircraft maintenance, and related aircraft services to Government and commercial requirements IAW multiple FAA certifications

S3 Inc. is looking for an AH-64E Apache Longbow Instructor Pilot (IP) to provide support to the requiring office for the successful conduct of training of United States Government (USG) qualified AH-64D/E Aviators. The IP can reside anywhere as long as they reside within reasonable distance of an Airport with services to a major hub to support travel to mission locations.

Description: 

The IP provides planning, production, and implementation of the Program of Instructions (POI) for the AH-64E Aviator Series Transition Course (ASTC), the AH-64D/E Mobile Aviator Qualification Course (MAQC), and other AH-64D/E flight training courses as required.

Responsibilities: 

  • Conducts AH-64 flight training in day, night, visual flight rules, and instrument flight rules (VFR and IFR), and shall be prepared to gain and maintain NVS currency in order to conduct Night Vision System flight training when mission requirements dictate.
  • Provides individual pilot training, assessments, progressions, and evaluations.
  • Provides support under authorized flight conditions in conjunction with the requiring offices' approved training programs and applicable documents.
  • Participates in USG, Foreign Military Sales (FMS) reviews, evaluations of training documents, courseware, and training software.
  • Training devices in support of a Training Verification/Validation Material Review IAW to ensure that training materials and devices are representative of the most current aircraft system operations and in compliance with applicable documents.
  • Conducts the execution of all training for unit personnel utilizing USA or FMS customer furnished classrooms, part task trainers, flight simulators, and aircraft.
  • Participates in and provides support for the development of products for related program planning conferences and program reviews.
  • Ferries aircraft from the Boeing plant at Mesa, AZ, to customer locations as directed for modifications as well as to and from unit Aviation units.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience or High School and 12 years of equivalent functional experience.
  • Qualified in US Army AH-64E; AH-64Ev6 preferred.
  • Graduated of the US Army AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot Course.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate and the appropriate category and class ratings.
  • FAA Second Class Medical Certificate or an Army Class 2 Flying Duty Medical Examination (FDME).
  • A minimum of 500 flight hours for USAACE Qualified AH-64 IP time in AH-64D or AH-64E.
  • Must have at least 100 hours of flight time in the last 12 months.
  • Must be able to travel outside of the US; must possess a US Passport with at least 6 months remaining until expiration at the time of hire.
  • Must reside within reasonable distance of an airport with services to a major hub to support travel to mission locations.
  • 1,500 flight hours of USAACE-qualified AH-64 IP time in AH-64D or AH-64E and/or
  • 10 years of AH-64D/E IP experience is preferred.
  • Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
