Job Responsibilities:
- Required to maintain various types and levels of job related training with respect to company established standard operating procedures, confined space entry training, HAZWOPER, first aid, and CPR
- Handling and disposal of materials considered to be a potential environmental threat if mishandled or stored and/or disposed of improperly
- Operate company equipment to include by not limited to; vacuum truck, vacuum tanker, hot water pressure washer, hydro blaster, backhoe, track hoe, skid steer, man lift, boom lift, scaffolding, external pumps and others as determined by job scope
- Perform daily inspection of company equipment, to insure safe operation
- Maintain daily inventory and perform inspections of tools, fittings, hose connections and other items as required by job scope
- Complete daily scheduled services and pick-ups in a timely manner
- Maintain and complete accurate work tickets based on company requirements and work performed
- Collect samples in accordance with established procedures
- Accurately calculate quantities collected by measuring truck prior to and upon completion of work, reference calibration chart
- Assess potential customer needs and deliver outstanding service to customers
- Troubleshoot and perform services for various above ground and below ground oil water separators, wash pits, drain/tank cleanings, as well as site remediation work and spill response procedures
- Able to push, pull and lift 50 to 75 lbs. while wearing PPE (Tyvek, Respirator, Gloves)
- Able to work in various weather climates
- Maintain a high level of professionalism with customers
- Perform confined space entry cleaning procedures to include:
- Conduct confined space hazard assessments and evaluate the workplace to determine potential hazards
- Conduct air monitoring inside the confined space and comply with CSE / Indoor Quality in accordance with OSHA standards
- Maintain proper documentation of inspections and activities involving confined spaces and hot work
- Ability to wear full face respirator and supplied air as necessary
- Comply with Lock Out Tag Out procedures
- Know the behavioral effects of the hazards
- Comfortable with being lowered on a winch system into a confined space
- Comfortable with climbing a ‘chicken ladder’ into and out of a confined space
- Able to push, pull and lift 50 to 75 lbs. while wearing PPE (Tyvek, Respirator, Gloves)
- Respond to and assess environmental impacts associated with a release, to include:
- Identify, evaluate, prevent and control contamination of the environment
- Controlling and managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste, collecting samples, managing waste operations, assisting with regulatory compliance
- Set up safe zone for team to include environmental impacts, traffic and unauthorized persons
- Interpret guidelines and instructions
- Communicate directly with Industrial Services dispatcher and/or Industrial Services Manager to resolve customer issues and/or questions.
- All duties are to be performed per company procedures to maximize the safety of all personnel and efficiently perform assigned tasks
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills, Experience, and/or Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Good communication skills, oral and written
- Future ability to obtain CDL
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs, with repetitive movement of both hands and feet
- Ability to exert 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move tools and equipment
- Staging of between 20 and 300 feet of 2 to 6 inch hoses from the vacuum truck / tanker to the pumping location
- Required to stand, walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, climb, crawl, kneel, reach, squat and twist
- Able to work both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions to include, chemicals, gases, cold/heat, noise, dampness, dust, fumes, confined spaces, darkness and heights
- Exposure to disagreeable weather conditions and extreme levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting and sound
- Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors
- Mechanical knowledge of hand tools, meters, scopes and other pertinent specialized equipment
- Maintain a high level of professionalism with customers
- Ability to travel out of town or state as needed for extended periods of time either individually or as a team. Evening, weekend, holiday, and overnight work may be required
