Software Engineer, Front End

Trellis Energy is hiring a full-time Software Engineer, Front End. Great growth opportunity to help build an enterprise level software serving the energy market. As a member of a tight knit and high-performing team, you will be integral to our product, client, and team successes. You will interact with all levels of the project teams including users, analysts, developers, architects, and management.

Location: Houston. Our team works in a hybrid model going into our Galleria office 1 day/week.

Responsibilities:

• The ideal candidate will be well-rounded in various engineering facets, but have their focus on front-end engineering. 
• Enhance/build new Trellis product features, customize existing functionality 
• Participate in design and information flow sessions 
• Evaluate, implement and present solutions based on Best Practices 
• Contribute to solutions around usability improvements, rendering, information architecture, and data flow 
• Present innovative ideas for product improvements based on business understanding 
• Evaluate new technologies and solutions 

Required:

• 5+ years of front-end web development experience; mid-to-senior-level candidates are encouraged to apply. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or other related Engineering fields. 
• Proficiency in modern front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, TypeScript, jQuery or equivalent modern frameworks). 
• Strong knowledge of responsive and adaptive design principles, ensuring compatibility across web (desktop), tablet, and mobile devices. 
• Experience with front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, or React Testing Library) to ensure code quality. 
• Proficiency in integrating front-end with back-end APIs (e.g., REST, GraphQL). 
• Hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CICD) pipelines. 
• Familiarity with IDE tools such as Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ, or Eclipse. 
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 

Preferred:

• Experience with full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and adaptability to methodologies such as Agile or Scrum. 
• Familiarity with back-end technologies (e.g., Java) for seamless front-end integration. 
• Experience with Ant Design for building consistent and scalable user interfaces. 
• Experience with ag-Grid customization for advanced data grid implementations. 
• Familiarity with modern deployment environments, including cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) or containerized setups (e.g., Docker). 
• Knowledge of the Natural Gas industry or experience in regulated industries (e.g., energy, utilities). 
• Proficiency in building or maintaining design systems to ensure UI/UX consistency across applications.
