PACO Group is seeking a dedicated Remote Value Engineer to join our team as part of the Tren Urbano project. Tren Urbano is an ambitious urban transit initiative designed to enhance public transportation infrastructure in Puerto Rico, promoting efficient, reliable, and sustainable commuting options for residents and visitors alike. As a remote Value Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the project's goal of optimizing design and reducing costs to maximize overall system efficiency.

In this role, you will apply proven Value Engineering principles to analyze and optimize project design, reduce costs, and improve overall performance. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, the Value Engineer will lead VE studies, coordinate with project stakeholders, and drive innovative solutions to enhance the value of this critical infrastructure project. Job Overview:
The Value Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall value of construction and engineering projects by identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving design solutions. Utilizing methodologies consistent with SAVE International standards, the Value Engineer will systematically evaluate project functions to optimize performance without compromising quality or safety. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate Value Engineering (VE) sessions and ensure the successful implementation of recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Value Engineering Studies:
    • Conduct Value Engineering (VE) studies using the SAVE International methodology, including the Information, Creative, Analytical, Recommendation, and Presentation phases.
    • Evaluate project functions, identify cost-saving opportunities, and propose alternative design considerations to improve project value.
    • Work with a Certified Value Specialist (CVS) to facilitate VE sessions and discussions with stakeholders.
  2. VE Process Management:
    • Collaborate with project teams to gather and analyze relevant project data for VE studies.
    • Lead and facilitate VE sessions with the VE team, using creative and analytical methods to generate and assess ideas.
    • Present VE findings and recommendations to the Authority’s project team, ensuring interactive discussions and clear communication of results.
    • Prepare comprehensive VE reports detailing recommendations and value improvements.
  3. Project Coordination:
    • Distribute relevant project documents, drawings, and information to the VE team and panel of experts.
    • Develop and submit VE outlines, schedules, and meeting plans for approval by the Authority.
    • Coordinate meetings with the Authority’s VE manager and ensure VE team participation in key discussions, including kick-off meetings, recommendations meetings, and stakeholder reviews.
  4. Risk-Benefit Analysis:
    • Conduct risk-benefit analyses to evaluate proposed changes and their impact on project objectives.
    • Ensure that value engineering proposals align with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  5. Procurement and Cost Savings:
    • Assist in developing procurement strategies and identifying quick-to-implement work packages for cost-efficient project delivery.
    • Support the preparation of project management plan (PMP) updates that reflect VE findings.
  6. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare presentations, draft reports, and final reports for VE studies, ensuring clear communication of value improvements to stakeholders.
    • Continuously monitor and document the effectiveness of VE initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in value engineering, project management, or cost estimation.
  • Familiarity with SAVE International VE methodology and principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience facilitating collaborative discussions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Value Specialist (CVS) or equivalent certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience with procurement strategies and fast-track project delivery methods.

Location: Remote, some travel to Puerto Rico may be required occasionally.
