Major Job Duties:
- Processes member and third-party claims; reviews and confirms member coverage.
- Sets up exposures and reserves.
- Contacts claimants to advise of claims procedures.
- Determines need for independent adjustor; forward claims to adjustor as appropriate.
- Processes payments based on provided estimates.
- Conducts investigations to determine liability.
- Reviews independent adjuster reports to determine liability.
- Requests and processes medical and other required documentation.
- Requests checks for claimants, members, vendors, and subrogation carriers.
- Prepares letters, releases and proof of loss statements.
- Prepares total loss evaluations using online resources.
- Negotiates settlements.
- Coordinates the provision of rental vehicles to claimants.
- Performs related duties.
Knowledge Required:
- Knowledge of liability and property claims processing principles.
- Knowledge of insurance principles.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of property damage appraisal principles.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Texas Department of Insurance Adjuster License required.
