Description

Washington Corporations provides services to various entities within the Dennis Washington Family organization (the “Washington Companies”) including executive management, legal, accounting, tax, information technology, human resources, aviation, and facilities.  As a member of the Washington Corporations finance and accounting team, the Accountant works with individuals within Washington Corporations as well as other financial and operational staff in the entities that it supports.

The Accountant supports the accounting and compliance needs of the various entities and departments within the Washington Companies as assigned.  The Accountant reports to the Corporate Controller and will play a key role in supporting the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting while ensuring compliance with established accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily and month-end accounting functions including, but not limited to, preparing journal entries, general ledger and cash account reconciliations, invoicing, accounts receivable monitoring, employee expense report processing, accounting for fixed assets, and other general accounting tasks as assigned
  • Prepare and compile workpapers to support periodic and year-end financial and regulatory audits
  • Prepare and initiate wire transfers
  • Assist in inter-company account reconciliations, administration, and reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial management reports
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • JD Edwards experience is a plus

Education, Certification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent, from an accredited university
  • 2+ years public or private accounting experience, preferably using an ERP accounting system
