Join the Racquet Sports team at one of the largest private country clubs in North America with beautiful hard, clay and grass courts as an Assistant Racquets Professional

Desert Mountain Club features a total of nine tennis courts including three outdoor hard courts, five outdoor Har-Tru, and a stadium grass court.  Additionally, there are six dedicated pickleball courts, with plans to build two more.  There is a full-service pro shop, located in the at the Sonoran Shop with a full selection of merchandise, both hard and soft goods.

In this role, you will provide personalized service and an exceptional experience to members and guests through expertise both on and off the tennis/pickleball court. This includes, but is not limited to, executing well-planned and well-run events, providing information, merchandise and service that exceeds the members and guest’s demands, and assisting in all facets of the racquets program in any way that best serves the membership and teammates at Desert Mountain.  

The ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly engaging with a can-do spirit, detail-oriented, and passionate for providing exceptional experiences. At least three (3) years of tennis teaching experience as a USPTA Certified Professional with a background in pickleball and high-level playing experience are required.

JOB DETAILS

Responsibilities:

    On Court:

  • Assist or participate in all sessions of Open Play throughout the week to include, but not limited to, Women’s and Men’s Open Play.
  • Assist in teaching clinics for men, women, and juniors.
  • Assist with tennis camp lessons throughout the summer and holiday seasons.
  • Assist in the planning, supervising, and running of racquet events at Desert Mountain.
  • Aid in coaching process by analyzing play in practice, matches, and leagues.
  • Enhance teaching and instruction through the use of video and other teaching aids.
  • Stay abreast of knowledge and trends in teaching methods and styles, and racquets, paddles, balls and courts (including construction and materials).

    Off Court:

  • Restring and/or regrip racquets for members and guests, and new demo racquets as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating activities relating to league play (ex. Women’s Interclub Tennis League and Arizona Tennis Association).
  • Perform event evaluations to improve and enhance future events and activities.
  • Promote events, clinics, leagues, and activities by calling members.
  • Maintain presence amongst the members to promote yourself and the tennis program whenever possible. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Racquet Sports.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Required to work in an outdoor working environment – Regularly
  • Exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather – Regularly
  • Required to work, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
