The General Manager must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the company including: Operations, Sales (estimating & business development), Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Safety, and Customer Service. This individual will ensure quality, profitability, and growth in all areas of the company. The role will require effective cross-functional and collaborative teamwork to achieve business results.
Reports to: The General Manager reports directly to the Business Owners.
Skillset and educational requirements:
- Minimum of ten years experience in the Construction Industry.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably within the Carpentry/Construction/Project Management Industries).
- Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on the company’s insurance policy.
- Proficient in both oral and written communications.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, e-mail use, and estimating software.
- Strong track record of delivering operational and financial results.
Primary Responsibilities:
Sales:
- Build strong relationships with the customer base and ensure customer requirements are met.
- Consistently meeting/exceeding annual sales goals.
- Regularly visiting customers and being present on job sites.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Extensive carpentry, building, and renovating experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and staff at various organizational levels.
- Entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and sense of urgency, strategic thinking, innovation, and forecasting ability.
- Solid listening skills
- Proven ability to develop and implement new strategies in a competitive business environment.
- A track record in successfully managing a business through change. Accepts accountability for the need to consistently achieve targeted goals.
- Ability to develop talent – both as individuals and teams. Strong coaching ability. Commitment to hiring and retaining the best and acting on marginal performance.
