The Opportunity

The Director, Art Direction will manage a team of high-performing designers and collaborate with external design partners in order to inspire and direct the creation of stunning imagery for luxury fashion products by executing on all marketing initiatives and collateral that delivers on Holt Renfrew’s brand positioning, drives sales and creates excitement for the company, ultimately cultivating an elevated customer experience.

Who you are

  • You are a visionary creative, with experience directing integrated campaigns with a strong digital focus
  • You have a deep knowledge of photography, creative direction, with the ability to anticipate how things will translate on social, web and instore.
  • You are well connected and in touch with fashion, branding or design, culture and trends
  • You can influence and persuade, through compelling story telling and use analysis and trends, to guide your point of view and decisions
  • You are a leader, who can inspire and motivate a team and influence leaders
  • You have a strong personal brand and/or a portfolio that demonstrates your creative aesthetic or campaign experience

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Develop and lead complex cross-functional strategies to address and develop recommendations for major opportunities and concerns within Art Direction.  Including:
    • Demonstrating thought-leadership
    • Ensuring solutions are based on strong analytics and insights
    • Ensuring the path to move from strategy to execution is clearly defined and laid out
    • Presenting findings in a compelling way at the executive level
  • Lead the end-to-end creative and production process – from conceptualization, art direction and/or design, production and execution – of all digital creative marketing initiatives, including social, website, email, display ads, online editorial, digital photography & video, digital branding, as well as print collateral materials that include direct mail pieces, advertising and signage, as well as internal business initiatives as requested
  • Develop seasonal campaigns that are innovative, leading, relevant and brand-consistent, supporting the seasonal trend direction and product buy
  • Provide creative and innovative solutions that build brand voice and elevate customer experience through all channels: digital, in-store, print
  • Build, lead and develop a high performing creative team that is capable of delivering the results to meet performance goals and achieve overall strategic goals
  • Direct project implementations including the creation of team critical paths, monitoring of progress, development of launch materials and communication
  • Adhere to the annual expense budgets in order to achieve all expense management targets

Additional Experience Requirements

Minimum 6+ years experience in a leadership role 
Experience in  Agency, Marketing, Retail, CPG,  Ecommerce or startups will be valued
Demonstrated experience managing a team of creatives (graphic designers, copywriters, ux designers etc)
