The Vice-President, Information Technology will be responsible for designing a strategic vision of how technology will unlock growth, transform and fully support the business. They will need to align with executives, peers, and business leaders and will be responsible for constructing a compelling enterprise narrative on the changes required for success in digitization.

The Vice-President, Information Technology has the dual accountabilities for transforming Holt Renfrew through the digital transformation of our business, while guaranteeing minimal disruption to day-to-day business operations and providing high quality service to our colleagues across the business.

This is a challenging role as this portfolio is simultaneously focused on the present – ensuring a highly performant and available platform for our business. In addition, the future – the modernization of the application ecosystem to the cloud, transforming the IT organization to be agile and automated, and the mindset shift of our technology team to be customer focused.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic – Looking to the Future

  • Maintain and evolve our three-year Technology roadmap and capability model, tied to our digital business strategy and annual capital and operational budgeting processes.
  • Partners with executives and the business at large about the enterprise changes that underpin success in digitization
  • Works with stakeholders to continually optimize IT governance and decision-making processes as the business context and technology landscape changes
  • The delivery of capabilities to agreed timelines, scope and budget to enable our migration to multiple public clouds, including our DevOps pipeline, cloud modernization program and SRE Operations center
  • Modernization of the technology infrastructure platforms and operations capabilities to a state where we have no on premise data centres and a small team managing production with no human intervention

Tactical – Managing the Day to Day

  • Establishes a security infrastructure that appropriately balances protecting the company while enabling the business
  • Uses change management expertise and an end-to-end understanding of the digital value chain to coach business leaders on driving enterprise change and related prioritization
  • Develop a prioritization framework to evaluate IT projects and priorities and ensure regular communication with business stakeholders
  • Provide daily Technology Operations monitoring, investigation, and actioning of incidents, problems, service requests and Major Incidents
  • Platform Currency: (software and hardware). Strive to be n-1
  • Ensure Availability of application and services: Strive to guarantee maximum availability and in case of failure recover as fast as possible
  • Stay compliant: Strive to have no open Audit findings
  • Drive the operational cost down: Find any possible improvement to reduce cost

Leadership

  • Provide leadership to ensure a high performing technology team with appropriate skills and capacity required to enable technology strategy
  • Be a coach, mentor, and role model for members of the technology management team to help grow our talent
  • Demonstrate credibility through expert strategies
  • Execute with precision and completeness. Tenaciously anticipate and address questions

 Vendor Management

  • Define and mature a sourcing strategy and partnership model for external service providers
  • Strong management of external vendors and partners

Financial Management

  • Understand and implement best practices
  • Implement cost improvement initiatives, and strong governance
  • Focus on both the short- and long-term to ensure the company’s financial success
  • Strong business case development and benefits tracking strategies
  • Directs and oversees the management of the IT budget process, costs, and resources for the IT organization
  • Oversees measurement and reporting of IT systems’ reliability, performance, security and business value

Role Requirements:

  • A leader in the Technology field
  • Leadership capabilities that foster a high performing operations and delivery team
  •  Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with a record of accomplishment of professionalism, innovation, integrity and high energy
  • Highly desired is a candidate who has experience in a complex matrix environment whereby success was achieved through a combination of and internal team, and outsourced providers
  • University degree 
  • Quantitatively driven, will understand the value of information, and will use this to drive strategy and tactics
  • They will be a decisive individual with a passion for results, and will have well-developed and proven relationship management skills at all levels
  • Track record of successfully delivering complex, cross-functional business solutions
  • Solid program and project management skills with Project Management Office (PMO) experience the ability to influence and guide the actions of others
  • Honest and ethical with unquestionable integrity
  • Drive change; be confident, resilient and persistent
  • Demonstrated emotional maturity, self-awareness, and learning with a strong capability in building interpersonal trust
