Reporting to the Director, Business Intelligence and Data Governance, the primary function of the role is to provide analytical, data extraction, data maintenance and reporting support to the merchant and planning teams.


Key Areas of Responsibility:

Analytics/Reporting (40%)

- Conceptualize reporting; identify needs of the business and develop an approach and format that best addresses those needs

- Build reporting; Creating, often from scratch, reports/dashboards using multiple tools and source data, with an emphasis on sustainable and efficient means of refreshing/updating

- Maintain reporting; Ensuring reports continue to run/populate with the correct data, making adjustments and corrections as requirements evolve

- Distribute reporting; Communicating, on a regular and ad hoc basis, new and recurring reports, leveraging systematic scheduling and pre-defined timelines

- Data analysis; Emphasis to not only generate reports, but to use and analyze available data, to present educated, relevant and concise findings

Planning System Support (30%)

- Updating weekly data by running pre-defined scripts within the current merchandise planning tool (IBM Planning Analytics)

- Troubleshooting and helping to resolve data integrity issues and system errors, liaising with both internal IT and external vendor support

- General maintenance within the tool related to merch hierarchies, commodity and store attributes

- Creating new views and layouts within the tool, utilized by the planning team, to improve input for forecasting and planning

Product Pricing Maintenance (20%)

- With input from the Buying and Planning teams, maintaining both regular and markdown pricing within our ERP system (SAP)

- Regularly monitoring and correcting price discrepancies/inaccuracies that impact both data and customer facing issues

- Creating and maintaining product promotions within our ERP system (SAP); ensuring all required information is gathered and communicated to the stakeholders

Data Governance Crossover/Ad hoc (10%)

- Help to support and collaborate with the Data Governance team, working on cross functional projects/updates and also providing cover-off during team absences

- Involvement in larger corporate reporting and analysis projects, requiring assistance with data extraction and knowledge transfer


Successful candidate must display:

- High degree of accuracy; ability to check and cleanse any data before committing/communicating

- Ability to stay on task and self-prioritize to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on time

- Analytical mindset; equal emphasis placed on the ‘why’ as the ‘how’, not just data extraction

- Strong Communication; using both verbal and written means to be clear and concise

- Comfortable with change; ability to embrace and drive change, to both practice and approach

- Fast-Learner; able to pick-up and adapt to new tools, systems and data points

- Collaboration skills; openness and willingness to work within, and contribute to, a team


Experience and technical Skills:

- Strong working knowledge and experience with Excel, MicroStrategy (required)

- Basic understanding of SQL and VBA Code

- Experience with SQL Server, IBM Cognos, SAP (highly desirable)

- 3+ Years in a corporate analytical role
