Administers and conducts scheduled/corrective maintenance and commissioning on the Remote Revenue Metering System, Energy Control System (SCADA), Telecommunication Systems and support communication interfaces to DFR/SER and protection relays within distribution and transmission class electrical substations throughout the state. Independently provides coordination and performance of technical assistance and support to 38 Electric Membership Cooperatives for their distribution SCADA/Load Management Systems, and possesses technical skills to support emerging technologies in the areas of communications networking, fiber optics and substation automation. Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems with multiple intelligent electronic devices, such as RTUs, SMP Gateways, revenue meters, digital fault recorders and MPLS/ Fiber Optic networks. Position requires in-depth knowledge of electronics, communications networking and related technologies and software and protocol languages (DNP3, Modbus, etc.). Coordinates and supervises contract staff (Bell Companies, metering contractors, etc.) for routine maintenance and special projects. Thorough knowledge of all electronic and substation communication devices and their operations is required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical and/or Telecommunications Engineering.
Experience: One year installing and/or maintaining poly-phase metering equipment, component-level troubleshooting and printed circuit board repair, installing and/or maintaining electronic data/telecommunications micro-processor based equipment related to SCADA operations.
Equivalent Experience: Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical and/or Telecommunications Engineering, and three years installing and/or maintaining poly-phase metering equipment, component-level troubleshooting and printed circuit board repair, installing and/or maintaining electronic data/telecommunications micro-processor based equipment related to SCADA operations.
Licenses: Fiber Optic certifications UTC1 and UTC2 for installation and design, ITS Qualified Operator, Georgia Driver’s License
Specialized Skills: Experience in the use of test equipment such as multi-meter, OTDR/fiber termination kits, electrical and misc. hand tools, transmission test sets for communication circuits, understanding networking and laptop computers.
