Position:         Chief of Space Operations (CSO) Speechwriter & Strategic Communications

Location:        Pentagon and hybrid-remote (at the direction of government lead)

Hours:            40 hours/week, core hours 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Eastern, overtime/weekends by exception

Clearance:      TS/SCI

Education:     Masters’ Degree

Outcomes:

The successful candidate is expected to accomplish the following outcomes the first year in the position:

  • Routinely craft senior leader messaging that is in line with mission objects and reflective of USSF culture within minimal correction.
  • Perform accurate, high quality, and timely work which leads to positive Government review rating. 

 

Responsibilities:

The Headquarters United States Space Force (HQ USSF) and the Director of Staff (HQSF/DS) require assistance in organizational planning, implementation, maturation, and strengthening of the HQ Space Force. To further the process of developing HQ USSF, a multi-faceted planning, integration, and management support team continues to implement a multi-phased, (multi-year), plan to transition HQ USSF from an initial operating capacity to full operational capacity. The Strategic Communication Lead will support these efforts by performing the following functions:

  • Coordinate engagements and CSO-directed special initiatives for the Strategic Initiatives
    Group (SIG) with SIG divisions and USSF staff and units
  • Conduct research for information appropriate for specified audiences and venues and senior-leader delivery
  • Prepare speeches and/or draft speaking points for the CSO
  • Align comments with Secretary of the Air Force (SAF) messaging
  • Provide updates of tasks assigned and completed to the SIG task lead for inclusion in the Project Manager’s Monthly Status Report (MSR)
  • Complete all contract required training – one-time and annual – on time

 

Qualifications: The candidate must have the following qualifications

  • Tops Secret / SCI
  • Master's degree in an associated technical or line of business discipline
  • Over eighteen (18) years of progressive experience in high-level technical and organizational support services. 

 

Desired:

  • Speech-writing experience 
  • Uniformed or civilian service in the Air Force or Space Force
  • A War college graduate
