Position:          Payroll Administrator/Accountant

Location:         Burlington, MA

Clearance:       Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance

Education:      Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting or related degree


The Payroll Administrator will report directly to the Human Resource Specialist and will be exposed to all areas of payroll and accounting within the company. Initial duties will focus on the preparation and disbursement of bi-weekly payroll in a multi-state environment using ADP Workforce, Now, and PROCAS time and attendance system. The Payroll Administrator will support to the Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Controller, and Human Resource Specialist.

Upon fully understanding the payroll process, the Payroll Administrator/Accountant will assist the Controller with the daily operations of the Finance department.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  •  Ensure bi-weekly payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner.
  •  Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  •  Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate reports.
  •  Verify accuracy of all employee time sheets utilizing an electronic time and attendance software product for compliance with policy, state,   and regulatory requirements.
  •  Review computed wages and correct errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings. Ensure that all changes to payroll are processed correctly.
  •  Track and verify accurate benefit deductions and record keeping including 401(k).
  •  Assist in preparing 5500 filings, 401(k) non-discrimination testing, and any other filings.
  •  Manage all garnishments, benefit deductions, and updates to PTO accruals and payouts.
  •  Prepare various payroll and management reports, journal entries, and workers compensation reports.
  •  Respond to Verification of Employment requests.
  •  Respond in a timely manner to all employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters.
  •  Assist in the reconciliation of payroll bank statements and review the accuracy of payroll deductions to payroll output documents.
  •  Review and analyze labor distribution reports.
  •  Validate labor hours and develop required accounting system entries.
  •  Support/backup Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  •  Execute additional projects and assignments in support of General Accounting and Operations, as required.


The candidate must have the following qualifications:

  •  10+ years of experience in processing payroll using ADP system or equivalent system.
  •  Excellent computer skills, including advanced Excel knowledge and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.
  •  Able to work independently and multi-task.
  •  Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  •  Broad knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  •  FPC or CPP certification a plus.
