Summer 2021, Asia Internship

Freedom House’s Asia Program seeks an Intern to support its program activities and advocacy campaigns in the Asia region. He/she will provide support by conducting research and assisting with a range of programmatic and administrative functions. This position requires a commitment of 20-30 hours per week

This is a temporary, part-time, internship for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students (graduate students preferred) that will last from June 7, 2021 - August 6, 2021. The Intern will receive a monthly stipend.

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge and interest in democracy, international human rights and/or comparative politics.
• Academic background in Asian studies, political science, international human rights, international relations, development policy, or related field. 
• Knowledge of Asia region, preferably in East and Southeast Asia.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite
• Excellent research, analytical, writing, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with others, and work as an effective team member
• Strong ability to plan, organize, prioritize work and multi task to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times

Illustrative Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative and logistical support for day-to-day functioning of Asia programs
• Assist in research on democracy, human rights and governance issues in Asia
• Assist in developing and writing project reports
• Support monitoring and evaluation of current projects
• Assist in processing program expenditures and preparing financial forms
• Assist in events planning and execution
• Attend events related to democracy and human rights issues in Asia and prepare reports and briefs on priority countries in Asia
• Other related duties as assigned
