
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Director and Deputy Director, the manager of assessing operations will be responsible for managing the day to day operations and overseeing the administrative staff in the Assessing office. The manager of assessing operations will be responsible for the following:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree in business, finance or accounting required and at least three years of experience in an office where assessing and/or appraising operations are primary responsibilities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee must complete basic assessing courses approved and required by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue and the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Officers as a condition of continued employment.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Answer telephones and maintain multiple files. Must read and analyze large quantities of information. May require minimal lifting of up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to person essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is conducted in an office environment with fluorescent lighting, air conditioning, computers and other standard office equipment. May also have meetings in other offices or facilities. Noise level in the office can be high as the office is active with phone calls and walk in customers. Position may be eligible for hybrid work under the City’s Telework Policy, depending on operational needs.
